Everything you need to know about sadaqah, sadaqah jariyah and our services.
What is sadaqah in Islam?
Sadaqah (صدقة) is a voluntary act of charity in Islam. Unlike zakat which is obligatory, sadaqah can be given at any time, in any amount, and to anyone you wish. It can take the form of a financial donation, a good deed, or even a smile.
What is sadaqah jariyah?
Sadaqah jariyah (صدقة جارية) is an ongoing charity whose rewards continue even after the donor's death. Examples include building a well, donating a Quran, or building an ablution station. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'When the son of Adam dies, his deeds cease except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.' (Muslim)
How does Mysadaka work?
Mysadaka allows you to dedicate a sadaqah in the name of a loved one (alive, sick or deceased). We carry out the act on location — in Makkah, Pakistan or Gaza — with personalised duas. You then receive a video proof and a digital QR code frame.
Can you give sadaqah for a deceased person?
Yes, it is one of the most virtuous practices in Islam. Sadaqah given on behalf of a deceased person reaches them and benefits them, according to the consensus of Muslim scholars. This is one of the most requested services at Mysadaka.
What is the difference between sadaqah and zakat?
Zakat is a pillar of Islam, obligatory for every Muslim whose wealth reaches the nisab threshold. It represents 2.5% of annual wealth. Sadaqah is voluntary, with no minimum amount, and can be given at any time. Both are forms of charity in Islam.
How will I receive the video proof?
After your sadaqah is performed, you receive an email containing your personalised video proof and a digital QR code frame. The video is also accessible from your Mysadaka customer account. The average delivery time is about 10 days insha'Allah.
What services do you offer?
We offer: wheelchair and Quran deposits in Makkah, ablution station construction in Pakistan, food parcels, water tanks, meal cauldrons and hygiene kits in Gaza. Every act is filmed with personalised video proof.
Does sadaqah have merits in Islam?
Yes, sadaqah carries many merits: it extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire, it protects from punishment, it is a shade for the believer on the Day of Judgement, and it purifies wealth. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged sadaqah even with half a date.
