Losing a loved one is one of life's most difficult trials. Facing this grief, the Muslim naturally turns to their faith to find comfort and ways to continue honouring the memory of the deceased. One of the most beautiful actions one can perform is giving sadaqah in their name.

❝« Sa'ad ibn 'Ubadah said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, the mother of Sa'ad has died. What is the best charity?' He replied: 'Water.' So Sa'ad dug a well and said: 'This is for the mother of Sa'ad.' »

What forms of sadaqah for the deceased?
Any form of sadaqah can be given in the name of a deceased person. However, scholars particularly recommend forms of sadaqah jariyah as their rewards are continuous.
- A water well or tank to provide clean drinking water
- A Quran placed in a mosque for worshippers to read
- A wheelchair placed in Makkah for pilgrims in need
- A food parcel for vulnerable families in Gaza
- Building ablution places to facilitate purification before prayer
